Marc Skinner Eyes New Chapter with Manchester United

Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner is reportedly nearing agreement on a new multi-year contract extension with the club. There are big things happening for fans, so stay tuned! Having been at the helm for four years, Skinner has led the team through a time of tremendous growth. Now, he very much wants to keep this upward progress going and bring even more success back to Manchester United.

With Skinner at the helm, this group is undoubtedly more well-rounded than it’s been in recent memory. First of all, he’s made some really strategic decisions to surround himself with a very young, energetic team. This community-defining approach is one which resonates powerfully with fans and the local communities around Manchester and far beyond. Even though many of his critics have derisively called his style “risk-averse,” the proof is in the pudding. Skinner is yet to lose in nine all-time meetings with Aston Villa in all competitions, winning six of those encounters.

Skinner’s aspirations go beyond just winning the horse race. He is intent on delivering indelible memories to the club and their supporters.

"A big motivating factor for me is creating memories. I try to make things light-hearted because this is a daily pressure bubble and it's the only way to feel normal. The world is quite crazy, so I try to take that pressure away," Skinner stated.

Ongoing conversations with Manchester United regarding a contract extension are a sign of Skinner’s continued desire for more years of progress. Ultimately, he sees a team that’s flourishing in what he terms, “the pushing space.” They will never stop trying to do their best.

After four years in charge, Skinner has already established himself as the longest-serving manager in Women’s Super League. His leadership, vision, and persistence have led Manchester United through a similar season of improvement, finding themselves in a great position to continue to strengthen that foundation.

"You should never just throw money at things, you have to build the structure and foundations. We're building for longevity," Skinner emphasized.

As Skinner negotiates his own new deal, he won’t let that get in the way of overall theme – keep talking with the players.

"I'm not just cheesy rhetoric. I'm in constant communication with my players. I had four players in my office yesterday, speaking on a deeper level," he remarked.

Though his risk-averse approach is sure to be a source of disagreement among some, it’s hard to disagree with the advances made during his watch. The squad's evolution and improved performance compared to last year highlight Skinner's effective stewardship.
