Malik Nabers Shows Resilience Ahead of Second NFL Season

Malik Nabers, the standout wide receiver for the New York Giants, is determined to build on his impressive rookie season despite facing minor injuries. After sitting out the spring due to a toe problem, Nabers has returned to training camp with confidence, participating every day, including the first half of practice on Wednesday. His commitment is indicative of his desire to prepare for the demands of the 2021 season.

In his first-year performance, Nabers shined, hauling in 109 receptions for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns. With this success in his rearview mirror, he feels like he’s only gotten better. “I don’t think it has been affecting me. I’m still continuing to make plays, still continuing to feel good when I’m out there,” Nabers stated, emphasizing his commitment to contributing this season.

During TSU’s summer workouts, Nabers has shown off his big-play potential. What has both fans and NFL coaches most intrigued are his deep catches. His explosiveness has not gone unnoticed. Russell Wilson, the Giants’ quarterback, expressed admiration for Nabers’ talent. “There are only so many people in the world that can do it like he can,” Wilson remarked. During his introductory press conference, Wilson discussed what excites him about Nabers. He was actually very surprised in watching film and just what the future holds for him. It sounds very bright to me.

Nabers has dealt with a few recent injuries, including a shoulder injury that cut practice short for him. Nevertheless, he remains hopeful for a return to health and success on the court. He attributes the clarity of the coaching staff for creating a structured, orderly approach. Thanks to their training, he should be ready to go by the time the season opens. “I’m doing fine. The coaches and the training staff have this process they want me to do that has me being healthy when we’re ready to play,” Nabers explained.

In his second year in the league, Nabers is looking to take his game to another level. Head coach Brian Daboll hasn’t ruled out giving Nabers and the other starters extra rest during the team’s upcoming non-conference contests. Yet the hype around Nabers’ success just continues to grow.

Through a couple weeks of Giants’ training camp, we’ve seen Nabers’ drive and all-around playmaking ability. He says he’s looking to make an even larger impact this year than the last. Seeing Malik Nabers develop into a strong rookie season was heart-warming. With the support of his coaches and teammates, he certainly seems poised to become an offensive leader and key playmaker for the Giants in the 2023 NFL season.
