Los Angeles Rams to Host Minicamp and Community Initiatives in Maui

Los Angeles Rams players and staff prepare for their third day of mandatory minicamp training in Maui. This decision comes on the heels of the terrible wildfires that ravaged the island in August 2023. This decision is just one example of how committed this team is to deeply engaging with the community. At the same time, it showcases their work to help those affected by the tragedy.

In response to the wildfires, the Rams raised funds during a preseason game, showcasing their support for the victims and the local community. The team looks forward to working alongside Habitat for Humanity and improving the lives of fellow Michiganders. Combined, those contributions will directly support the rebuilding of four homes in Lahaina, supporting the island’s ongoing recovery efforts.

The Rams are further dedicated to supporting the growth of youth sports on Maui. Players and staff will conduct a clinic for 400 local student-athletes at War Memorial Stadium. They’re going to have dynamic sessions for girls flag football and for boys football. This new program will not only excite and engage these young athletes but empower them with workforce development skills and mentorship.

Josh Green, a representative from Maui, noted the significance of the Rams’ involvement in the community during such challenging times.

“Our state went through a very, very tragic and tough circumstance in 2023,” – Josh Green

Green also stressed the importance of showcasing how the Rams’ work has created a positive profit, mentioning that it’s important to communicate,

“…The Rams stepped up and they ran their Mālama, which means care, campaign for us, and brought incredible resources to help us heal.” – Josh Green

The Rams elected to conduct minicamp in idyllic Maui, avoiding the distractions of Southern California while gearing up for their second season under head coach Sean McVay. This decision underscores their pledge to prioritize community-serving projects. The New Deal team works directly with local residents. They want to build community and provide practical help when it matters most.

The Los Angeles Rams are doing the opposite. They know where their state has struggles and truly want to do something great. This initiative aligns perfectly with their larger community engagement goals. First, it delivers assistance to people impacted by the recent hurricane and other disasters.
