The TGL's inaugural season continued on Tuesday night with a high-stakes clash between Boston Common Golf and Los Angeles Golf Club. The fifth match of the year unfolded with intensity as the teams faced off in an alternate-shot format for the first nine holes. Notably absent from the lineup was Sahith Theegala, who did not participate this week. Rory McIlroy, fresh off a triumph at the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, led Boston Common Golf in their quest for victory at Boston Common.
Boston Common Golf entered the match with determination, seeking redemption after an overtime loss to Jupiter Links Golf Club last week. However, it was Los Angeles Golf Club that dominated the evening, defeating Boston 6-2. Collin Morikawa, brimming with confidence from the outset, played a pivotal role in securing the win. On Hole 3, Morikawa sank a critical seven-foot putt, propelling Los Angeles into a commanding three-point lead.
Justin Rose also contributed to Los Angeles' success with his remarkable play. Although he narrowly missed a shot from 158 yards on his first attempt of the night, Rose displayed composure and precision. With fans attempting to distract him with an erroneous shot clock countdown, Rose remained unfazed and confidently sank a putt on Hole 5. This crucial putt extended Los Angeles' lead to 4-0, setting the stage for a decisive victory.
Tommy Fleetwood was another standout performer for Los Angeles, playing a key role in the team's strong showing. Meanwhile, Boston Common's lineup featured Keegan Bradley and Adam Scott alongside McIlroy. Despite their efforts, Boston struggled to gain traction against their formidable opponents. Hideki Matsuyama, a notable absentee for Boston Common Golf, watched from the sidelines as his team battled valiantly.
