The Tennessee Titans making L’Jarius Sneed their second Wednesday activation would be a smart move. The sixth-year defensive back recently ended a stint on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list. This big addition comes as Sneed looks to get back to his pre-injury playing level following a down 2022 season. He hopes to get back into the physical shape necessary to make a bigger impact on the Titans’ already talented defensive unit.
Sneed’s path back to the field hasn’t been an easy one. He suffered a quad injury during a Week 5 loss to the Indianapolis Colts last season, which required surgery to address the issue. Plus, he had a knee cleanup procedure in May, pushing his return back even further. Before last season’s setback, Sneed played in at least 94% of the Kansas City Chiefs’ defensive snaps over three seasons, establishing himself as a vital player.
In 2022, Titans took a similar risk in bringing Sneed over from the Kansas City Chiefs. The full trade was the 2025 third-rounder along with a swap of 2024 seventh-round picks. Not only was he signed by Tennessee to a huge four-year deal worth $76 million in total assuring us of their faith in his talent.
As Sneed returns to action, he’s just concerned with getting back to where he was at his best. His primary order of business has to be making sure he’s in peak form to race at the highest level.
“It’s just really nice to have him back out there,” Titans defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson said. Gonzalez said he was optimistic about Sneed’s return, citing the effort that Sneed has already put in during his recovery.
For his part, Sneed was just as excited to be back on the field. He considers his return a “very big release” and is just excited to show the world what he can do again.
“When it’s time for those lights to come on, you’ll see a whole different L’Jarius Sneed.” – L’Jarius Sneed
The addition of Sneed would certainly be another step in improving a Titans defense that hopes to take a big leap this season. With his experience and skills, he aims to make an immediate impact as the team prepares for the upcoming challenges.
