LIV Golf has some thrilling, groundbreaking news to share! They will hold their inaugural event on the streets of South Africa from March 20–22, 2026. This exciting, first-time tournament will feature many of the country’s most decorated golfers. Brace yourself to see Louis Oosthuizen, Charl Schwartzel, Dean Burmester, and Branden Grace, all of them repping the pride of the all-South African Stinger GC squad.
Louis Oosthuizen is one of the most recognizable faces in golf. Having previously hoisted the Claret Jug at the 2010 Open Championship, he’ll be the first-ever captain of the Stinger GC franchise. His team members include fellow South African stars: Charl Schwartzel, who claimed victory at the 2011 Masters; Dean Burmester; and Branden Grace. Together, they aim to showcase their talents on home soil, fostering a sense of pride and excitement among local fans.
Oosthuizen said he was “really excited” to be bringing LIV Golf to South Africa for the first time. He remarked, “It’s always special to compete at home, and I’m incredibly proud to bring LIV Golf to South Africa for the first time.”
This signature event is set to be much more than a golf tournament. It’ll be an amazing occasion to further celebrate the colorful, dynamic South African sports culture! With local supporters behind them, Oosthuizen feels these close encounters should produce priceless memories for players and spectators. Ahead of the debut event, LIV Golf has said they expect local fans to be their biggest supporters. Oosthuizen noted the deep-rooted passion South African sports fans have for golf, stating, “South African sports fans love their golf, and I am sure they will turn out in large numbers … South Africa has given so much to us, and now we get to give something back.”
