Milwaukee Bucks star Damian Lillard is taking things one step at a time as he recovers from deep vein thrombosis. Team officials are pleased to circulate this positive development. Lillard averaged 24.9 points and 7.1 assists per game before he was lost to injury. After a miraculous recovery, he was recently removed from blood-thinning medication. His rate of recovery has broken every record ever seen. Such incredible progress is largely a result of early detection and timely treatment.
Lillard’s health issues have impacted the Bucks’ roster during a crucial part of the season, yet the team managed to maintain strong performance in his absence. Even more impressive was the Bucks’ stellar 10-4 mark with Lillard missing. They went and closed the regular season with a fantastic eight-game winning streak! That success has the squad rolling heading into the playoffs and placed them in prime position to make a deep run.
Which is why Bucks officials said specialists began working with Lillard even before he had a formal diagnosis. As it turned out, this proactive approach significantly helped Jacob get back on his feet quickly. The team’s medical staff said he is currently making “tremendous progress” in learning how to cope with his condition. As of last week, Lillard is no longer taking blood-thinning medication. He won’t be playing in Game 1 of the Milwaukee Bucks’ playoff series against the Indiana Pacers.
Looking ahead, Lillard will ramp up his basketball workload in the coming weeks. The Bucks have not provided a firm timeline for his return so far. They did say that he’ll begin with contact workouts and will go through a ramp-up phase to prepare him for competitive play. Team officials are still hopeful that he could come back if the playoffs continue.
