Legal Troubles Continue for Former NFL Star Antonio Brown

Antonio Brown, the former NFL wide receiver, faces escalating legal issues following a shooting incident at a celebrity boxing event in Miami. A warrant for his arrest has already been issued, charging him with attempted murder while armed with a firearm. The warrant orders Brown to post a $10,000 bond and stay on house arrest until his trial.

The circumstances around Brown have been pretty chaotic ever since his short time playing for the New England Patriots back in 2019. He played in only that one game before being cut loose in September after allegations of sexual assault from a former trainer came to light. This incident opened the floodgates for a slew of legal issues that would plague the athlete.

In June of 2020, Brown entered a no-contest plea to a felony charge of burglary with battery. This charge came after a very physical fight with a rental truck company on his property. As part of his plea deal, he was given two years of probation. On top of that, he will need to perform 100 hours of community service.

That most recent shooting was the basis for a current warrant. This ruckus occurred in the midst of a boxing match streamed by internet livestreamer Adin Ross. Witnesses indicated Brown was in a fight that turned serious when he purportedly threw a punch at a person. Once the scuffle was over, that man claimed that Brown charged at him while pointing a gun. He claimed that Brown shot at him twice.

Police apprehended Brown on location, later discovering he was in fact unarmed. In addition to his arrest, police found two empty shell casings in the area, making his case even worse. These witnesses helped to confirm the case against him, testifying that he had committed the shooting.

In response to these allegations, Brown has stated, “I was jumped by multiple individuals who tried to steal my jewelry and cause physical harm to me.” He mentioned that he was temporarily detained by police until they heard his side of the story, asserting, “I WENT HOME THAT NIGHT AND WAS NOT ARRESTED.”

The chronology of his career in the NFL since then has been beset by a mix of success and ill-fated controversies. In October 2020, he ended up with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He raised his first Lombardi trophy with the team soon after their first Super Bowl victory. His career truly came to a close when, in January of 2021, he walked off the field during the game’s first half…never to return.

As legal proceedings play out, it’s very much up in the air what’s next for the former athlete. His decisions over the last few weeks may be deciding what personal consequences he’ll face in his home life. They threaten to ruin his ever-so-hopeful meteoric rise to professional football success.
