LeBron James is heading into his 23rd NBA season. Later this week, he plans to suit up for the G League’s South Bay Lakers. On a personal level, this season marks a corner turning for James. When he steps on the court this coming season, he’ll break the record for the most NBA seasons played. He hasn’t participated in practice or games for the Los Angeles Lakers all season long. Ongoing injury issues continue to plague him.
James has dealt with sciatica issues that date back to the beginning of training camp. This condition has severely affected his ability to be a part of team events. Even with this injury blow, the Lakers have enjoyed a hot start to the season, with a 7-2 record. The team’s success has been remarkable given the significant injury problems faced by not only James but key players like Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. Remarkably, Reaves just returned to the Lakers’ rotation after a three-game absence to nurse a right hamstring injury.
No timetable yet
As of now, the Lakers haven’t released any sort of timetable on James’ recovery. His first order of business with South Bay was originally reported to take place on the day that story broke. It was later confirmed that this practice would indeed happen later this week. In addition, it was announced that James will not join the Lakers on their current road trip.
James had not said much to the media since the team’s media day in late September. His limited communication with reporters has left fans and analysts eager for updates on his condition and status within the team.
The Lakers are anticipating their next home game against the Utah Jazz on November 18, where they hope to continue their strong performance. Now that James is settled with South Bay, he looks forward to developing his practice. Naturally, everyone is extremely excited about his return to the court and his anticipated record-breaking season.
