Laurie Canter Signs with LIV Golf, Joins Majestiks for 2026 Season

Laurie Canter, a professional golfer from England, has made headlines by signing with the Saudi-backed LIV Golf for the second time, turning down a coveted PGA Tour card. This tactical maneuver follows his recent signing on to the Majestiks roster for the 2026 season. Canter’s move is the first real indication he’s all in on his own evolution in an ever-evolving game of professional golf.

As 2023 drew to a close, Canter wrapped up his deal with LIV Golf before the calendar year was up. He is 2017 European Tour Rookie of the Year after making a big impact during the 2017 campaign. There, he won the European Open in Germany in 2024 to secure the title. His victory was a demonstration of his astounding talent. It represented a major revival after he had sunk to no status on the European Tour.

Then, in early 2025, Canter repeated that achievement in Bahrain, cementing his place as one of the world’s greatest race car drivers. This victory moved him up to seventh place in the Race to Dubai. It was a true testament to his competitive spirit and tenacity on the tour. Canter was one of just ten players on the European Tour who qualified for a PGA Tour card. This final accomplishment shines a light on his enormous upside and talent.

For most of the 2023 season, Canter came to action as a reserve player for LIV Golf, replacing injured regulars. He played in 11 matches across the regular season and playoffs, collecting hard-earned experience in a league that has exploded in quality and popularity. His performance there has pushed his status to an impressive No. 50 ranking in the world standings.

Canter’s inclusion into LIV Golf was made possible by Niklaus Stenson’s withdrawal from The Players Championship. In fact, Stenson’s fellow English golfer, Paul Casey, was unable to do so, failing to finish in the top 48. That left an opening for Canter to come in and provide an alternative. This remarkable reversal highlights both the ruthless competitiveness of the world’s richest golf tour and the rare opportunities that open up on it.

Currently, Canter is geeking out over his position with the Majestiks team.

“Joining Majestiks GC is an incredible opportunity to be part of a team that has helped shape LIV Golf from day one,” – Laurie Canter.

He continued on to say that his time spent in the league has helped develop him as a player.

“The league’s growth has been remarkable and my experience in the league has led me to become a more complete player and a multiple winner on the DP World Tour,” – Laurie Canter.

Canter is excited for this new chapter, now with LIV Golf. Fans and competitors alike will be watching intently to see how he employs historical context and a willingness to create a bright, new future to flourish on the world stage.
