Lancashire Women have confirmed that Ireland international Gaby Lewis has signed for the rest of their One-Day Cup campaign. The 24-year-old all-rounder will add depth to the team as they look to secure glory in the under-19 competition. Lewis, who serves as the captain of the Ireland national team, is set to participate in the last four group games of the tournament.
Gaby Lewis will captain Lancashire Women for the first time in her first match back for the Red Roses, a home fixture against Somerset Thursday. Her wealth of experience, in having played well over 160 international matches between the 50-over format and the T20 format, will prove to be invaluable. Lewis came to prominence at just 13 years old, when she became an Irish international. Since then, she has established herself as a powerful presence on the pitch, racking up 14 half-centuries in just 59 One Day Internationals (ODIs).
Lancashire Women are in the thick of the title race, sitting in second place in the eight-team league. They’re hellbent on making September 17th a trip to the semi-finals. Adding Lewis would greatly improve their chances. They do have their eyes set on gaining qualification and a place in the knockout stages.
