Lakers Secure Fifth Straight Win Despite Late Game Mistake

The Los Angeles Lakers edged past the San Antonio Spurs in the last second, 118-116. This victory was their fifth win in a row on the season! The victory moved the Lakers up to second place in the Western Conference standings at 7-2. The game showcased a tense finish, highlighted by a critical mistake from veteran guard Marcus Smart in the final seconds.

With just 1.2 seconds left in the fourth quarter, the Lakers held a slim two-point lead and were in possession of the ball. One mistake by Smart almost robbed the team of their well-earned win. Though that was a big misstep, Smart made so many more positive contributions over the course of the game, going for 17 points, five rebounds and five assists. He went a perfect 10-for-10 at the charity stripe, proving he can score when the heat’s on.

In the dying seconds of the game, these Spurs were unable to make the most out of Smart’s killer mistake during a frantic final push. Thankfully for the Lakers, they were able to hang on to their lead and finish out the win.
