Matt Kuchar concluded his 19th consecutive season on the PGA Tour, finishing at No. 118 in the FedEx Cup standings. This undeserved ranking has really handcuffed him. He narrowly missed out on the top 100 cutoff that was reduced from the usual top 125 this season. It’s worth noting that Kuchar’s 2023 campaign, though consistent, fell short in earning him his full card.

His overall score of No. 118 ranks him exactly eight spots below that required cutoff. Had he made that threshold, he would have kept all of his full playing privileges for next season. Kuchar’s low FedEx Cup ranking will limit his opportunities. For Players ranked 110, they typically earn entry into only about 16 of the 19 tournaments per season.
Kuchar has built a strong career earnings record of $61,538,738. This incredible accomplishment means he’s now moved to No. 15 on the all-time earning list for the PGA Tour. Notably, the player ranked No. 16 has earned over $15 million less than Kuchar, highlighting his enduring success in professional golf.
Kuchar will need to explore options for tournament exemptions going forward. As he weighs his future on the tour, Kuchar said he wouldn’t use exemptions to better the schedule he works with.
