Knicks Secure Bridges with Four-Year Extension Worth $150 Million

The New York Knicks have tentatively agreed to a four year contract extension with forward Mikal Bridges. The deal is worth up to $150 million. On June 25, the Suns signed him to a four-year agreement worth $90 million, locking his long-term future in Phoenix. Just last season he helped lead the Knicks to their first Eastern Conference Finals appearance in 25 years. The agreement contains a 2029-30 player option and a trade kicker.

Bridges had a breakout offensive season, averaging 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists on 45 percent shooting. His diligence was critical in that he played through every single one of those 82 regular-season games providing reliability and durability. Notably, Bridges has never missed a game in his professional career, highlighting his commitment to the team and the sport.

After last season, Bridges established himself as a stud. He was the only player in the entire league to top 3,000 total minutes. He played a career-high 37.0 minutes per game, a testament of his importance in head coach Tom Thibodeau’s rotation. Alongside teammates Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, Bridges helped form a formidable trio that propelled the Knicks deep into the playoffs.

In a brilliant maneuver, Bridges front-loaded his maximum extension value of $156 million with a minor discount. This decision reflects his loyalty to the Knicks and provides the franchise with additional financial flexibility to continue building a competitive roster around him.

For the Knicks, the contract extension was seen as a strategic first step. They look to capitalize on the momentum gained from their deep playoff run a year ago. With Bridges committed to the team for the foreseeable future, the organization aims to capitalize on this foundation and strive for further success in the coming seasons.
