The Saint Lucia Kings were bellers over the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. They won the championship by three runs in a nail-biter that went down to the final ball. The encounter took place in a vibrant atmosphere as cricket fans gathered to witness an intense clash in the ongoing tournament.
Later, Saint Lucia Kings provided a testing target of 200 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Roston Chase led their largely impotent batting performance, hammering 61 runs from 38 balls. At the other end, Johnston Charles joined the party with a blistering 52 off just 28 balls. David wasn’t just influential behind the stumps – he pumped 46 off 23 balls, including five sixes. It was an impressive total, made all the more amazing since the Kings pooled their efforts. This clearly established the pressure on the Patriots every time they came up to bat.
In reply, the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots never recovered from an early assault. Except, with the score at 61 for 4, they had put themselves in a difficult position. Jason Holder’s captaincy was an adventurous attempt to get his side back into the match. In the quarter-finals, he wowed us again with a blistering 63 runs off 29 balls. Navin Bidaisee had a huge impact with the bat producing 50 runs from only 36 balls. Together, they created a crucial partnership of 67 runs that brought the Patriots back into contention.
As the battle turned towards its final stages, the entire stadium erupted in pandemonium. The Patriots needed 18 runs off the final over, and Jyd Goolie managed to hit a six from the last ball of the penultimate over, raising anticipation for a nail-biting finish. Shady, as he’s known, had been equally effective with the rock before that last-minute drive. Six singles from the first three balls of the final over left the Kings needing just one run.
And the Saint Lucia Kings are your reigning champs! This win sends them to 1st place in the tournament table and showcases their great form as the season gets going. After a 1-5 start, the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots now sit in 5th place. Having earned just one victory out of four matches, they are focused on improving their results in the games ahead.
