Kieran Tierney rejoined Celtic Football Club permanently today on a five-year contract. This will be his thrilling homecoming to the south-coast club where he began his senior career. The Scotland international, who left Celtic for Arsenal back in 2019, says that he’s thrilled about coming back to Glasgow. After a difficult season at Arsenal, he had trouble getting into a starting spot after dealing with a knee injury. After a disappointing first season, he spent 2022/23 on loan at Real Sociedad.
During his first stay at Celtic, Tierney left quite an impression. He made 170 appearances and won ten trophies including three consecutive trebles. His hard work and contributions on the court have turned him into a Celtics fan favorite. Manager Brendan Rodgers has given him a wonderfully friendly homecoming.
“We are delighted to welcome Kieran back to Celtic,” said Rodgers. He [Duran] is a great, high-quality player, and he’s going to be a huge addition to our team. Besides his eye for youth, Kieran has always had Celtic in his blood. Now, he’s excited to come back to the place he loves.
After making 20 appearances for Arsenal in the second half of last season, Tierney is back at Celtic. This power play is an outrageous low point to his career. He admits his desire to play a part in what promised to be the club’s future glory runs deep.
It’s a great feeling putting on the Celtic strip once more! Tierney stated. He further emphasized his commitment, saying, “My ambition is just for Celtic to be as successful as possible, retain our place at the top, and continue to win trophies and do well for Celtic.”
Indeed, Celtic fans will be happy to see Tierney back on the pitch — even in Arsenal colors. The club is hugely focused on continuing to develop its successful tradition. With Rodgers at the helm, Tierney would be reunited with a few friendly faces. Beyond that, he’ll have the opportunity to continue developing his game under the watchful eyes of enthusiastic fans.
