Kemar Roach, the experienced fast bowler, is set to reinforce Surrey’s bowling lineup for the initial four matches of the upcoming County Championship season. At 36, Roach will bring his formidable skills to Surrey once again, having been instrumental in their past three title-winning campaigns. As the season commences next Friday, April 4th, at Essex, Roach’s participation will be crucial for Surrey’s quest for continued success.
Roach, a seasoned campaigner with 284 Test wickets for the West Indies national team, has been a consistent performer for Surrey as well. During his career so far, he has taken 566 wickets in total. During his short stint with Surrey, he has taken 93 wickets. This is his fifth straight year leading the team.
As one of this season’s signings, Roach will make his appearances this season against Hampshire, Sussex and Somerset. Besides these, he’ll be making regular appearances at the Oval, where he will play 15 matches during the T20 Blast season. His expected presence for the South African Test batting star’s first home match against Somerset would make Surrey’s attack even more daunting.
