Keacy Carty Shines in West Indies Victory Over Ireland

Keacy Carty capped a phenomenal week with a glorious performance. Thanks to his efforts, those same West Indies cruised to a 48-run thumping of Ireland in the second ODI at Clontarf. His unbeaten 170 helped the team achieve a towering total of 385 runs. This all round dominance led to a massive 197 run victory on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method, bringing the ODI series to 1-1.

Carty’s innings proved to be a match-winning one, his second successive ODI century. In the process he bettered his previous best of 128 runs against England in November. The young batsman, playing only his second Test match, peppered the onslaught against a tired-looking Irish bowling attack who were ravaged with injury throughout the test. Carty scored his fairytale 150th run with a stroke of fortune. A delivery from Liam McCarthy was called a no-ball, allowing him a second go.

Captain S hai Hope offered an enthralling performance with the bat hitting 75 runs off just 75 balls. His hard work ensured the West Indies posted a massive 385-7 in their 50 overs. Carty and Hope proved to be an unstoppable duo. Combined, they created a tidal wave of momentum and a firestorm of pressure on the Irish side.

Dockrell himself claimed the key wicket of Captain Carty when he caught the batsman off McCarthy’s bowling. He capped off his career there with an impressive 170-run performance. His outstanding figures would go on to become the biggest ODI total in history at Clontarf. It turned out to be crucial in helping them even the series after a defeat in their opening game.

Providing excellent support to Carty was Justin Greaves, who scored his first international half-century, adding more depth to the West Indies’ batting order. It was this collective effort that allowed the West Indies to run roughshod over the USA and secure a hugely important victory for them.

Barry McCarthy of Ireland had a very difficult contest. He grabbed three wickets but at the cost of 100 runs, failing to stem the free-flowing show of batting from the West Indies. The Irish bowlers were in an uphill fight against Carty, who took full advantage of their tiredness.
