Justin Thomas has secured the services of Joe Greiner, who previously caddied for Max Homa, as his fill-in caddie for the upcoming Masters Tournament at Augusta National. This call follows Greiner’s recent break from Homa right before the Valero Texas Open.
Greiner, who caddied for Homa when he tied for third at last year’s Masters, will have a different role this week. He’s looking forward to tackling the challenges that lie ahead. Greiner, a former childhood friend of Homa, did not opt out. This provided him the opportunity to step in and assist Thomas in training for the competition of a lifetime.
Even though Thomas said Greiner was secured on very short notice, he reiterated his thankfulness for having Greiner.

Greiner and Thomas first teamed up during their practice round at Augusta on Tuesday. When those two were paired together that session, things were very different. Regardless of the situation that led to his departure from Homa, Greiner made clear his commitment to upholding friendships over business dealings.

Speaking as Thomas himself gets ready for the Masters, he said that Greiner is taking time off right now to get healthy and continue working on his health.

The caddie switch finally took place with less than 36 hours notice, but the speed of the transition only emphasized Greiner’s preparedness to step in and help lead Thomas. Besides his warm demeanor, Greiner’s most striking on-course quality is his exceptional feel. His experience will be a crucial asset as they address the unique challenges of Augusta National together.
