Justin Herbert, the new quarterback for the Los Angeles Chargers, broke his left hand. This was the second major injury during the team’s stunning, statement 31-14 win over the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. That’s because in the first quarter, Herbert absorbed a severe blow from Raiders safety Jeremy Chinn. He was just trying to come up with a play when the injury happened. Things didn’t go Herbert’s way this time, but he’s still feeling optimistic. He said he should be good to go for the Chargers’ game against the Philadelphia Eagles on December 8.
Herbert’s accuracy was on display early, as he went 15-for-20 for 151 yards with a pair of touchdowns and an interception before exiting the game with injury. Herbert briefly left the field after taking a shot from Chinn. The third down situation got even worse when Raiders linebacker Maxx Crosby was called for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. He ended up missing only nine plays of action, but was able to return to complete the game.
She placed Herbert’s injured hand into a rigid cast with glove to stabilize it. He had surgery on Monday to repair that fracture. Herbert acknowledged that holding onto the football became challenging after the injury but was determined to contribute to his team’s success.

Herbert dealt with a similar set of circumstances two seasons ago when he broke the ulnar bone in his left hand during a game against the Raiders. Now, he knows what to do when he gets these injuries.
