Justin Fields Returns to Practice Following Foot Injury Scare

Justin Fields, the newly signed quarterback for the New York Jets, returned to practice on Saturday, just two days after suffering a right foot injury during training camp. The injury, which has been a hot topic since Thursday morning’s news, was that he was carted off the field after dislocating his big toe. His rapid return to practice has fueled hope among fans and teammates too.

Fields agreed to a two-year, $40 million deal with the Jets, $30 million guaranteed. He was seen in practice going through a limited throwing routine and working on rollouts. His participation in quarterback drills is a huge relief after a Friday injury scare sidelined him with a leg issue. To hear head coach Aaron Glenn tell it, the injury wasn’t that serious and the panic that followed it was for show.

“The huge storm that was created really made no sense,” – Coach Aaron Glenn

Glenn said he was confident Fields would be returning to perform his job without limitation. He specifically stressed that the Bears shouldn’t try to rein in Fields and make him fit in a box.

“I’m not going to hold him back from being himself,” – Coach Aaron Glenn

Chicago Bears cut quarterback Justin Fields after three years as the team’s starter. He was the first overall draft pick in 2021 – and he’s playing now with the New York Jets. His mobility has often been cited as his best attribute, and with 1,466 rushing yards since coming into the league, for good reason. Jets signing him after losing Aaron Rodgers represents a different kind of move for a Jets team that has long sought big name stars.

On Thursday, Fields’ status was up in the air, having been listed as day-to-day with his recovery, spending most of practice as a stationary observer. Still, his return to practice just two days later is an impressive display of fortitude. It further underscores the team’s desperate and longstanding need for a fresh face under center.

As Fields continues to adjust to his new team and rebuild his momentum following the injury, fans will be watching closely to see how he integrates into the Jets’ offensive strategy. We’re so excited for what’s in store this one! For Fields, he’s simply hungry to prove his worth inside of the franchise and reflect that talent on the field.
