Julian Strawther Shines in Rising Stars Spotlight

Julian Strawther steps into the limelight as he joins the prestigious Rising Stars showcase during All-Star weekend, replacing Portland guard Scoot Henderson, who recently sustained an ankle injury. Strawther, a standout second-year player for the Denver Nuggets, has made impressive strides, leading all second-year bench players in total points, minutes played, field goals made, and 3-pointers made this season. The Rising Stars game will take place on Friday at Chase Center in San Francisco.

Strawther's participation marks a significant achievement as he becomes the 17th player from the Nuggets to be selected for this event, following in the footsteps of Bones Hyland, who earned the honor in 2023. His performance on the court has been pivotal for Denver, with the team boasting a 26-8 record when Strawther plays more than 20 minutes. Additionally, they are undefeated at 3-0 when he starts in the lineup. Over 54 games this season, Strawther has averaged 9.6 points per game.

The Rising Stars tournament is set to showcase four rosters of seven players each, competing in a dynamic format. Teams will engage in semifinal matches where the first to reach 40 points wins. The victorious teams will then face off in a championship game, with the first team to score 25 points claiming the title. Strawther has been assigned to "Team M," under the guidance of coach Mitch Richmond.

Originally from Las Vegas, Strawther entered the NBA as a first-round pick by Indiana in 2023 following a remarkable career at Gonzaga. He joined the Nuggets through a draft-night trade and has since become an integral part of their roster.
