Josh Allen to Have Jersey Retired at University of Wyoming

Football fans take note … the University of Wyoming will be honoring Josh Allen—best known as the remarkable quarterback for the NFL’s Buffalo Bills. In a special ceremony, they will retire his jersey number 17. This momentous competition will be held in Laramie. Allen has been a celebrated figure there ever since his days as a student-athlete on their gridiron. It’s a huge accomplishment, making him the very first Cowboy to ever win this honor, bringing in a historic award to the small university in Laramie’s athletic program.

Allen was selected seventh overall by the Buffalo Bills in the 2018 NFL Draft, making him Wyoming’s highest draft pick. During his college career, he showcased exceptional talent, culminating in being named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2017 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. His unprecedented success on and off the field have made him an invaluable ambassador for the university.

Allen will be returning to Laramie to receive the honor during the upcoming ceremony. This luck of the draw coincides neatly with the Buffalo Bills’ bye week following their Thursday Night Football matchup versus the Houston Texans. The buzz around his return is electric, and Allen himself said he couldn’t be happier to be back where his career journey all started.

“Excited to be back in Laramie,” – Josh Allen

Allen graduated from the University of Wyoming, and athletic director Tom Burman formerly said that Allen made a lasting mark on the university community. He added that Allen has done much to raise the profile of Wyoming athletics.

“It is very exciting and a wonderful day for the State of Wyoming,” – Tom Burman

Allen was a two-time team captain in his college days. His leadership and dedication continue to make waves, inspiring fans and aspiring athletes alike today. Yet his impact at Wyoming surely will extend well beyond his performance on the field. More than that, he was proud to be a representative of the university during his long career.

With its undeniable impact on both Allen and the University of Wyoming, the jersey retirement ceremony is bound to be a momentous occasion. We hope all the fans will come out for this celebration of a true local hero. This person has greatly shaped the world of college football and pro sports in general!
