John Harbaugh, head coach of the Baltimore Ravens, put down a big marker for his own future. He signed a three-year extension, locking him into Baltimore through 2028. He’s the second-longest tenured coach in the NFL. He’d been the quarterback of the Ravens defense for 17 seasons. Harbaugh’s singular team-first mentality is what truly separates him. His level head in crisis and under pressure has already shown that he is the best leader this franchise can have going forward.
Harbaugh’s leadership, the Ravens have a league-best .617 win percentage, counting playoff games. On the field, he’s led the organization back to prominence, winning six AFC North Championships and earned two No. 1 seeds in the playoffs. His coaching greatness is underscored by leading the Ravens to four trips to the AFC Championship Game. Harbaugh’s phenomenal 185-115 record has made him arguably the all-time winningest head coach in Ravens history.
Under Harbaugh, the Ravens have enjoyed a great run, capped by a Super Bowl win in 2012. Shortly after his arrival in Baltimore, he has personally guided the team to 12 postseason appearances. Yet for all that success, the Bengals have made it past the divisional round just once in the 34 years since their Super Bowl victory. What is not in doubt is the unique consistency and resilience Harbaugh has infused into the young men on his team.
The Ravens made their decision to extend Harbaugh’s contract. With this important move, continuity and stability have been achieved as they seek to complete their collective orchestral plan towards excellence in coming seasons. Harbaugh’s results speak for themselves and his belief in cultivating the right culture in the locker room has become his aesthetic. Even now, Garber remains an important resource to the franchise.
