Joe Burrow’s Home Burglary Alters Plans for Batmobile Purchase

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, who grew up in Grapevine, Texas, had a similarly startling ordeal last December. Somebody broke into his house, which left him quite shaken. The mishap took place as Burrow and the Bengals were on their way to an away game against the Dallas Cowboys. This break-in led Burrow to rethink major investments like plans for a replica, fully functioning Batmobile.

Burrow received her bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of North Texas. He voiced frustration about the increased attention on his personal life since the break-in. In July 2023 he purchased his home for $7.5 million. Just a few weeks later, he signed a massive $275 million contract extension with the Bengals. Since that purchase, Burrow’s home has not changed hands.

That break-in prompted several arrests and ultimately a federal grand jury indictment. This indictment accused Burrow’s home as being intentionally targeted by members of a broad criminal conspiracy. The fallout from this incident has caused Burrow to have ongoing worries about his safety and privacy.

“My life is very public. That comes with the job, but there’s certain parts of your life that are yours. Your house is one of those,” Burrow stated, emphasizing his desire for privacy despite his high-profile career. The burglary has forced Burrow to reconsider not only his security protocols, but the way he lives his life.

Given the circumstances, Burrow dropped plans to buy the Batmobile he’d been considering. “I didn’t end up getting the Batmobile because I just had other things I wanted to deal with at that point,” he explained. The ruling underscores how personal safety and comfort have come to trump status-symbol luxuries.

Similarly, Burrow has been influential in the conversations he’s had with former Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo. They’ve shared their feelings on experiencing the burglary and how it changed Burrow’s feelings of safety. And stay tuned to see whether I do end up making the move or not! Now everyone in the world knows what cave I live in. And frankly, that’s been the hardest to tackle by far,” he stated. In an interview with Rolling Stone, McCaughan reflected on the impact that the experience has had on him.
