This loss is a franchise-record tenth straight lose by the Jets. The team is deep in a tailspin, trying to regain its stature within the league. Coach Aaron Glenn’s aggressive approach and key player moments did not translate into a victory, as the team failed to capitalize on critical opportunities throughout the game.
In the fourth quarter, running back Breece Hall lost a fumble at the Ravens’ 3-yard line. This essential error ended the Jets’ prospects for a late rally. The defining moment only highlighted the tough day Hall endured throughout the game, as much as he wanted to play a key role late on and in other crucial situations. After the game, Hall candidly said he was pretty worn out. He lauded Glenn for having saved his career by lifting him up during that fated moment of opportunity.
Glenn, who was previously a player for the Jets himself, still preaches an aggressive, in-your-face style of play. On a 3rd quarter deep drop, he made the choice to throw one up. Trailing by only three points and looking at a fourth-and-2 from his own 42-yard line, he went for it. This decision was indicative of his wider philosophy of pursuing intelligent risks in order to give the team a better chance of winning.
“The win probability was better when going for it,” Glenn went on to explain. “I want to be aggressive … and we didn’t make it.” His audacious choice reversed, with the Jets unable to successfully turn on key plays. This failure did not cost them dearly on the game, but it certainly impacted their overall performance in the game.
Even in the face of that loss, Glenn stuck by Hall, doubling down on his confidence in Hall, calling him a “damn good player.” To be as engaged through high-stakes moments, Hall signaled his dedication to the team’s success and upside by guaranteeing a win. “I like being in those spots,” said Hall, speaking on his mindset to help change the Jets’ luck.
The Jets’ recent issues go far beyond single players and choices. They have now lost ten consecutive games after initially scoring points in matches, a troubling trend that echoes the Cleveland Browns’ notorious eleven-game losing streak from previous seasons. Their failure to build on momentum beyond initial, often euphoric, victories only adds to the difficulty of the task faced by these teams.
As the season rolls on, fans and analysts alike will be eagerly tracking Glenn’s increasingly ambitious tactics. They are just as interested to see how players such as Hall respond to adversity. The Jets could be starting to set the building blocks for a very strong future. They’re hellbent not to lose 4 in a row!
