Jayson Tatum, the star player for Boston Celtics and a six-time All-Star, had every basketball player’s worst nightmare on the court. This is from a recent game on the road against the Sacramento Kings in California. The crash occurred during the 3rd quarter of the game. Tatum’s fall came after he tried to shoot a heavily guarded, contested 3-pointer over the Kings’ 6-foot-11 center, Domantas Sabonis. On further review, Sabonis was given a Flagrant 1 foul for the play. Tatum was still on the floor a few minutes later. Even with this significant setback, Tatum made a return to the action just weeks later, proving that nothing was going to keep him down.
After getting help to the bench, Tatum was evaluated by the Celtics’ medical staff. He would soon return to the court, fueled by sheer will and heart. His return was marked by a successful free throw, one of two attempts, extending the Celtics' lead to 79-68 with 3:35 remaining in the third quarter. Before the incident, Tatum was averaging 25 points and leading his team in scoring. His performance featured a ridiculous 3-pointer over Sabonis that was a showcase of his remarkable offensive talent and bulldog spirit.
The Celtics meanwhile earned an easy 113-95 win over the Kings. He went down with an injury for a spell but returned to make key plays down the stretch in Boston’s win. Despite all of this he consistently recovers and plays extremely well. That’s a testament to his value to the team, and solidifies his name as one of the top NBA players.
