Jaylen Brown, the All-Star forward of the Boston Celtics, who sat out Thursday’s game vs. the Orlando Magic. He missed the rest of the season due to a deep bone bruise in his right knee. This injury has been the biggest reason for discomfort coming for Brown, showing on the floor as it’s affected his short game. He’s set to return from the dead. He should be good to go for the Celtics’ first-round playoff series, which will begin April 19 or 20.
Brown has been battling his knee condition all year. According to new reporting, the issue has since gotten even worse, subjecting him to additional suffering. To counter this unfortunate reality, he had a series of targeted pain management injections go into effect earlier this week intended to relieve his pain. The intervention is expected to get him enough relief and readiness to compete effectively when the playoffs start.
The effect of Brown’s injury has shown through in his numbers this year. He’s scoring 20.2 points per game to his lowest scoring average since the 2019-20 season. He’s averaging 5.8 in the rebound column, on par with what he’s been doing over the past seasons. Through all this, he’s reached a career-high 4.5 assists per game, a testament to his growth as a playmaker.
Additionally, the Celtics have put a lot on Brown’s plate this season, running him through and using him in the majority of their offensive lineups. His capacity to make an impact everywhere on the field has been important not only for his own success, but for the success of the team as a whole. After his recent injury, those struggles could be a big obstacle as the playoffs approach.
