Jaycee Horn Involved in Car Accident but Remains Positive

On Wednesday morning, Panther’s all-pro corner Jaycee Horn was in a similar accident. The collision occurred at the intersection of Mint Street and Morehead Street in downtown Charlotte. Although still healing from severe frostbite, Horn is hopeful that he can return this season and continue his career as he had intended.

Horn was drafted eighth overall by the Carolina Panthers in the 2021 NFL Draft after starring at the University of South Carolina. Just then, he signed a 5-year contract extension through 2025 for $100 million, becoming the highest-paid cornerback in the league. This four-year extension, worth $54 million, solidifies the team’s trust in him as their leader on the field.

After the incident, Horn was treated for cuts that required a few stitches near his left thumb. Sadly, he lost a highly-anticipated separate joint practice with the Cleveland Browns due to the altercation. As new offensive coordinator Dave Canales announced, Horn will miss Friday’s preseason opener against the Browns, as well.

“I’m glad that Jaycee was OK. He did have to have a few stitches in his left thumb area,” – Dave Canales

Horn took to Twitter to express his gratitude following the advance. He tweeted about his situation shortly after the accident, stating, “I’m straight! Nun major thank god🙏🏾🙏🏾” from his Twitter handle @jayceehorn_10.

Canales provided an update on Horn’s condition, noting, “They got that all cleaned up and sutured up. He’s day-to-day right now.” The coach disclosed that Horn expects to do everything he can to play in next week’s game against the Houston Texans. That’s an indication that his recovery is progressing well.

Horn is best known for his beat boxing skills. His Pro Bowl status, while not the end all be all, is just the clearest indicator of his standout season and impact on the field. His drive to comeback to play is a testament to his character and will after this unfortunate event.
