Itching to get back on the court, talented rookie Jared McCain of the Philadelphia 76ers is hopeful about his recovery. He’s in the process of healing up from a left knee meniscus tear. McCain endured a season-ending injury that he sustained while playing against the Indiana Pacers in December. This has forced him to be benched for a long period of time. At just 21 years old, the former Duke standout had already made a strong impression, averaging 15.3 points across 23 games and starting eight of those.
This is what the 76ers hoped to build with their own All-Star trio of Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and Paul George. They’re hoping to use that as a springboard from last season’s NBA-worst 24-58 mark. They finished the season on a deeply concerning 5-31 run. McCain is thrilled to be coming back to NBA Abu Dhabi Games. He’s aiming to return to the court for the preseason games on October 2 and 4, but before that, he requires full medical clearance.
“I still haven’t talked to them if I’m free for everything,” McCain stated, indicating that he has yet to discuss his return timeline with the team’s medical staff. Though he’s disappointed, he told us unequivocally that he’ll be back on the court with his teammates soon without a doubt.
