Former NBA forward Jared Dudley is finalizing a deal to become the Denver Nuggets’ head assistant coach, source tells DA. This is an ambitious change of career for the former NBA player. In 2021 Dudley became an assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks. This coming season, however, he’ll assume a different role as an assistant under head coach David Adelman with the Denver Nuggets.
Dudley’s NBA career spanned 14 seasons. The Charlotte Bobcats made him the first overall pick in 2007. In 904 career NBA games, he averaged 7.3 points and 3.2 rebounds per game. At 39 years old, Dudley transitions from a player to a coaching role, bringing valuable experience and insights from his time on the court.

Under his steadying hand, the team won their final three regular season games. His leadership guided the Nuggets through a challenging playoff gauntlet, defeating the LA Clippers in a gritty seven-game series. They weren’t able to pull it all together enough to defeat the Oklahoma City Thunder in yet another heart-stopping seven-game series.
Dudley’s appointment comes as the Nuggets look to build on their recent successes and strengthen their coaching staff as much as possible.
