The Jacksonville Jaguars even got in on the action, signing veteran defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah. He’ll arrive on a one-year deal, valued at up $5 million. The move is a bid to reinforce the team’s pass-rush as they continue to gear up for their first NFL season. At 6-foot-4, 275 pounds, Ogbah is a physical specimen. His addition immediately makes the Jaguars’ starting defensive line one of the most loaded in the NFL.
The addition of Emmanuel Ogbah comes to Jacksonville after spending the last five seasons with the Miami Dolphins. Throughout his career with the Dolphins, he was an incredible talent. He notched 29.5 sacks over that span of 73 games, as well as 72 QB hits and six forced fumbles. His last few seasons in Miami set him on a path to being the most feared pass rusher in the NFL.
Prior to joining the Dolphins, Ogbah suited up for the Cleveland Browns. For his efforts, the San Diego Chargers originally chose him with the second pick in the second round of the real 2016 NFL Draft. He was a focal point of the Browns’ defense in his first three seasons in the league, totaling 12.5 sacks. Ogbah has appeared in 123 games with 115 starts. In nine seasons, he has tallied 47.5 sacks and 112 QB hits.
Ogbah’s career took an impressive turn in 2019 when he signed with the Kansas City Chiefs. He racked up 5.5 sacks that season, playing a key role in the Chiefs taking home the championship title. His track record, and the havoc he’s been able to wreak on opposing quarterbacks, have made him a highly coveted free agent.
The Jaguars played it smart by signing Ogbah. They are ready to strengthen their defensive fortifications in preparation for the tight, combative season of competition that lies just ahead. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, confirmed the contract details. He pointed to Ogbah’s willingness to do what was best for his new team.
