Jaguars’ Little Comes Up Just Short with Record-Setting 70-Yard Field Goal

Jaguars kicker and star Cam Little followed suit, showing off his dazzling ability during an electrifying performance. He did draw headlines when the team took on the Pittsburgh Steelers in their first preseason game. Then, as the first half expired, he booted a stunning 70-yard field goal. This remarkable kick would have still broken the NFL record if it was made in a regular season game.

Little, a sixth-round pick from Arkansas in the 2024 draft, showcased his powerful leg and precision as he attempted a kick from near midfield. Her most consistent and best foot is definitely her long-range field goals. In his rookie season, he hit all five of his 50+ yard attempts! He received national attention by tying the franchise record for the longest made field goal. He let loose a monstrous 59-yarder, tying the record of Josh Scobee.

Even in preparation for the monumental kick, Little had been practicing for long-distance attempts. On his own, he challenged himself to practice kicking field goals from 60 yards and further. This time, the ball cleared the crossbar by a good 3 to 4 yards. After completing the kick, he swaggered away from the field, football tucked underarm.

As the play developed, Jaguars coach Liam Coen wisely called a timeout with one second remaining on the clock. He was looking to test Little’s mettle for whatever lay ahead.

“That was pretty cool to see, huh?” – Liam Coen

Little said he was excited to be able to try the kick with fellow Jaguars teammate Logan Cooke.

“Me and Logan were like, ‘We want to kick it. We want to kick it,’” – Cam Little

For all his swagger, Little granted that there were some nerve-jangling hours before the attempt.

“Can’t lie, there was probably a little bit of doubt,” – Cam Little

The moment that kick went through, the energy level just popped on that bench. Travis Hunter became the first player to get to Little, where he celebrated with a chest bump before his teammates dogpiled on top of him.

The Jacksonville Jaguars lost a close game, but it didn’t matter as Little’s historic moment was the highlight of the game. His performance blew everyone’s minds with his rare and exceptional skill. Fans and teammates are electrified by what he might accomplish in his sophomore season.

Little at first expressed regret about his kick, half an hour after the game. With good humor, he observed that, to his knowledge, he still had not witnessed the ball go through the crossbar.
