Jaguars Appoint Anthony Campanile as New Defensive Coordinator

The Jacksonville Jaguars have announced the appointment of Anthony Campanile as their new defensive coordinator. Head coach Liam Coen selected Campanile after a comprehensive interview process that included candidates Patrick Graham, Daronte Jones, and Aubrey Pleasant. Campanile's extensive experience in the NFL, particularly his recent role as the linebackers coach for the Miami Dolphins and the Green Bay Packers, made him a standout choice for the position.

Campanile's coaching journey over the past five seasons has seen him excel in various capacities. Most recently, he served as the run game coordinator for the Packers, where he played a pivotal role in their defensive success. Under his guidance, the Packers ranked seventh in the NFL for rushing defense, allowing just 99.4 yards per game. Additionally, they stood third in the league in yards per carry, conceding only 4.0 yards on average this season.

Before his tenure with the Packers, Campanile spent four seasons with the Miami Dolphins. His strategic influence there was evident as the Dolphins consistently performed well against the rush. Miami allowed an average of 4.2 yards per carry and 106.4 rushing yards per game during Campanile's time, ranking sixth and tenth best in the NFL respectively for those metrics.

Campanile's coaching credentials extend beyond professional football. He has significant experience at the high school level, having coached for six seasons in New Jersey. His tenure at Don Bosco Prep included five seasons, three as defensive coordinator and two as offensive coordinator. Additionally, Campanile contributed to Rutgers' football program as a defensive assistant for four seasons, where he also worked with tight ends and receivers.

The decision to appoint Campanile aligns with Coen's vision for the Jaguars' defensive unit. Coen expressed his confidence in Campanile's leadership, stating:

"Anthony Campanile represents exactly what we want to be as a defensive unit and football team." – Liam Coen

Campanile's appointment brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of defensive excellence to the Jaguars. His leadership is expected to enhance the team's strategic approach and bolster their defensive capabilities.
