Ireland's men's cricket team has canceled its planned multi-format series against Afghanistan this year, citing financial reasons. The series, which was scheduled to include one Test match, three One Day Internationals (ODIs), and three Twenty20 Internationals (T20s), was part of the Men's Future Tours Programme.

Warren Deutrom, the Chief Executive of Cricket Ireland, announced the decision as part of a broader effort to manage the organization’s short-term budgetary constraints. Despite the cancellation, Irish cricket fans can still look forward to witnessing some of the world’s best cricketers playing on their home ground.
"This decision is part of our management of short-term budgetary constraints, as well as our requirement to comply with the Board's mandate to deliver balanced investment across the organisation's strategic objectives."

Ireland will host several international cricket events this year. The women's cricket team will welcome Zimbabwe in July for three T20Is and two ODIs. In August, Pakistan's women's team is set to visit Ireland for three ODIs. Additionally, the women's team will participate in two ICC World Cup qualifier tournaments, competing against Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, Thailand, and Scotland in 50-over matches from April 9 to 18.
Moreover, the Irish men's team will host the West Indies for ODI and T20 series in May and June, respectively. In September, they will play their first home T20I series against England.
