Ireland and West Indies Encounter Another T20 Washout

Their counterparts from Ireland and the West Indies faced an equally disappointing blow on Saturday. Their second T20 match was called off due to heavy rains. This game was the first of a continuing three-match T20 series, after splitting an ODI Series in Dublin last month.

It was a testing start in any case, as the opening game at Bready on Thursday was washed out. Uncooperative weather conditions announced the decision to cancel the second edition. Both teams had expected a competitive beginning but were greeted with unforgiving elements. The last-minute cancellation of that match-up had left both teams salivating at the prospect of displaying their skills in the later games.

Originally scheduled to start at 15:00 BST, the second T20 match at Bready faced a delay of one hour. A pitch inspection conducted at 16:00 ultimately deemed the surface unplayable, leading to the abandonment of the match without any play occurring.

This development is a disappointing development for both teams, who were looking to continue the momentum gained from their latest meetings. Just last month in Dublin, Ireland and the West Indies played an epic all-time ODI series. Both teams took home a win in their respective halves of the series, leading to a split. The excitement for the T20 series couldn’t have been greater, but unfortunately, Mother Nature has thrown a big wrench into their plans.

Looking ahead, the third match of the T20 series is scheduled for Sunday at 15:00. As always, both teams will be hoping for a little kinder weather. They couldn’t be more excited to get onto the field and compete!
