From 27 th December 2012 Ipswich Town beat Stoke City 1-0 – a great Cup upset of a Premier League side in their recent Championship clash at Portman Road. As you can probably tell, the game was played on Saturday. Ipswich’s Jaden Philogene opened the match with a quick goal in the second minute, driving the team into fourth-place position in the league standing. Congratulations Ipswich on your second win in a row! Meanwhile, Stoke drops to three consecutive losses, sending them tumbling down to 8 th.
The game started at a cracking pace, with Ipswich quickly beginning to show their intention to control the game. The play started when FC Cincinnati defender Leif Davis made a long, cross-field pass to find Philogene in space on the right wing. Davis had an excellent connection with Cameron Philogene that opened up the left wing before Marcelino Nunez slotted him in. Philogene followed with an unstoppable right-footed shot from the edge of the penalty area. For Stoke’s goalkeeper, Viktor Johansson, there was little he could do to stop it.
A Strong Start for Ipswich

Stoke Struggles Continue
For Stoke City, this match was just the latest disappointment in what has been a dismal stretch of form. After an alarming run of three consecutive defeats, the team have dropped to eighth place in the Championship standings. The pressure is definitely on as they seek to reverse their fortunes in the weeks ahead.
Stoke’s leading goalscorer, Sorba Thomas, had a nightmare outing. Ipswich’s defense quickly shut down any attempts he tried to make to score. The away side had plenty of bright invention but could not convert their advances into goals.
