His absence has certainly been felt as the team has lost the ability to consistently apply defensive pressure. What the recovery timeline for Bosa is still unclear, but fans and analysts across the league are hopeful of a quick return.
In comparison, nearly every play from Josh Hines-Allen screamed excitement in his last game against the Titans. He logged two sacks and seven pressures on the season, proving his ability to consistently wreak havoc on the opposing offense. His performance would have a monumental effect on shaping the team’s playoff positioning. They’re looking to build momentum as they head into some important matches in the near future.
Quarterback Showdowns
C.J. Stroud has already impressed onlookers with his precision ahead of the draft, especially in his last starts against man coverage. He showed decisive decision-making to be able to read the defense and get off the ball and threw a perfect 9-for-11 passes for 132 yards. To Stroud’s credit, his confidence is noticeably soaring. If he can maintain this level of play, he has the potential to be a key contributor as the season continues.
Conversely, on the rare occurrence that there was a Jacksonville blitz, Cam Ward had a hard time, completing only 5-of-8 passes for 24 yards. His performance under pressure was more troubling still, as he completed just 4-of-10 attempts for 19 yards. These struggles, combined with the added offensive line instability, put a premium on success up front in the remainder of the exhibition slate.
The pressure has mounted on Shedeur Sanders to rise up as a third-string QB. Without much in-game experience, only time will tell how he will adjust when asked to step up in key situations.
Defensive Struggles and Injuries
