The Pro Football Hall of Fame celebrated an exceptional class in 2020, inducting only four members—the smallest class since 2005. This prestigious group includes Sterling Sharpe, Eric Allen, Jared Allen, and Antonio Gates, each bringing a unique legacy to the revered institution. These athletes were honored for their remarkable contributions to the NFL, exemplifying excellence and determination throughout their careers.
Sterling Sharpe, who played his entire career with the Green Bay Packers from 1988 to 1994, made an indelible mark on the league. He is ranked 12th all-time in career sacks since the statistic became official in 1982 and holds an NFL record with four safeties. Sharpe led the league in receptions three times, including his final two seasons, and is among the top 11 players in career sacks—a group that now includes 10 Hall of Famers.
Eric Allen, known for his remarkable defensive prowess, also joined this elite class. He amassed 54 career interceptions, ranking 21st all-time, and played for the Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints, and Oakland Raiders. Notably, in 1993, he returned four of his six interceptions for touchdowns. Elected to the Hall of Fame on his 19th year of eligibility, Allen reflected on the journey.

Jared Allen, who enjoyed a prolific 12-season career primarily with the Kansas City Chiefs and Minnesota Vikings, was an eight-time Pro Bowl selection. His consistent performance and leadership on the field earned him a rightful place in this distinguished class. Reflecting on his induction, Jared Allen shared his thoughts on the significance of this honor.
"Nothing comes easy. When I found out it was only four, it became more special. There's a true emphasis on what it means to be a Hall of Famer. Clearly we fit that. For me, it was kind of a sigh of relief." – Jared Allen
Antonio Gates rounds out this exceptional group. Entering the NFL as an undrafted rookie with the San Diego Chargers in 2003, Gates defied expectations by securing his place as one of the greatest tight ends in league history. With 955 receptions, he stands fourth in league history for tight ends, highlighting a remarkable career defined by resilience and talent.
