Glamorgan demonstrated a strong performance in their recent match against Lancashire, highlighted by notable contributions from Kiran Carlson and Sam Northeast. In their first dig Glamorgan made just 261, but an impressive second innings effort of 348-7 proved more than enough. Lancashire had a disastrous opening, being bowled out for only 137 in their first innings. In their second innings, they have fared a little better, at 226-5, though still requiring 247 runs to win with five wickets remaining.
In what turned out to be the decisive performance, Kiran Carlson scored 77 runs in Glamorgan’s first innings. He continued on from that success to score an even better 108 in his second innings. He created his impact quickly, smacking 11 fours and three sixes in his second innings. He really proved his talent to fully exploit the conditions.
Chris Green enjoyed a productive day with the ball in hand for Glamorgan, taking 3/29 in his eight overs. He single-handedly wrecked the first innings, grabbing 6 wickets for a measly 82 runs. In the second innings, he picked up three more wickets conceding 93 runs. His play forced Lancashire to create efficient scoring opportunities and exerted high-pressure defense at key points in the game.
Lancashire had a very difficult time gaining their footing as they chased Glamorgan’s first innings score. They were subsequently bowled out for a disappointing 137 runs. In their second innings, Luke Wells emerged as a standout player for Lancashire, scoring 102 runs and forming a key partnership with Keaton Jennings, adding 72 runs together. Despite these efforts, Lancashire were left with a very challenging target set by Glamorgan to chase down.
Sam Northeast had a good second innings for Glamorgan, scoring a hefty 132 to help secure victory. His impressive inning was no doubt a big factor in Glamorgan’s total of 348-7 declared, enough to give Lancashire a potentially steep hill to climb.
The game featured Glamorgan allowing Lancashire 147 overs to score the runs required. In the closing stages of the match, Lancashire had progressed to 226-5 but were left with a mountain to climb to chase down their target.

Even with the weight, after his ton Wells said he felt 50-50 about it.

While Glamorgan’s hitters fell quickly, their bowlers fought hard throughout the contest to keep their opposition nervous and uneasy at the crease. James Harris made a telling mark in the second innings, taking 2 for 40. His performance was at the expense of more direct competition for Lancashire.
Even with Lancashire’s misfortunes, the county side was able to stay competitive as they neared the final balls of the match.
