Glamorgan Secures Dominant Victory Over Kent in First Win of 2025

Glamorgan completed a clinical win against Kent, taking all 10 wickets in a drawn-out afternoon session. Top order powerful Glamorgan enjoy their first victory of the 2025 season! This important win jumps them two places in Division Two, ahead of the relegation zone. Glamorgan played a near-perfect final, thrashing Kent by an innings and 161 runs. Along the way, they scored a remarkable 23 points to Kent’s 2 points.

One of the highlights of the victory was a belligerent 181 not out by Ben Kellaway. Kellaway’s 141, supported by Asa Tribe’s robust 94 and Colin Ingram’s 70, took Glamorgan to an eventual declaration of 549-9. Their batting performance created an incredible target, leaving Kent in a world of hurt.

Glamorgan’s bowlers then took center stage. The pair of Asitha Fernando and Timm van der Gugten paved the way, ripping through Kent’s top order in their second innings to secure victory. Van der Gugten expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, stating, “We probably didn’t think it was going to happen that quickly, but very happy that it did, and it was a pretty complete performance.”

It was an action packed match with other key moments. With the next delivery, Carlson took a key catch, snaring an edge from Daniel Bell-Drummond off the bowling of Andy Gorvin. Carlson’s attempt was indicative of the team’s sorely underrated fielding excellence, a strong suit that balanced out their batting and bowling farces in a complete performance.

Glamorgan’s coach, Richard Dawson, praised his team’s efforts following the match. “A tremendous display by the boys indeed,” he reflected. “Last week we played some good cricket against Derbyshire but didn’t get over the line, so to back it up and play the way we did was really pleasing.”

Glamorgan will look forward to their next match on Wednesday against Northants. They’ll be joined by Australian star Marnus Labuschagne for two weeks, replacing Colin Ingram in the squad. This highly touted addition is likely to strengthen their already formidable lineup as they try to capitalize on this positive momentum going forward.
