Germany won the EuroBasket tournament, capturing their first title since 1993, in a classic final against Turkey. Schroder was the game-changer, to be sure. He wowed defenders with his rangy scoring prowess, dominating the field to win the tournament’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award. Alperen Sengun led the charge for Turkey with an impressive 28 points, while teammate Cedi Osman contributed significantly with 23 points. Of course, Shane Larkin stepped up when it mattered most, going for 13 points, nine assists and six rebounds. Though they did try, Turkey couldn’t come back in the dying minutes of the match.
With time running out, Schroder hit a key jumper with only 18.7 seconds left to give Germany the lead. Sengun took an opportunity to even things up just a few possessions later. Sadly, his potential game-winning three-point shot fell short, and with it went Turkey’s chances. To finally put the win beyond doubt, Schroder made a couple of free throws, clinching Germany’s gold.
Scroder had a brilliant run at the tournament, which led to his selection as MVP. This milestone spotlighted his newly signed contract with the Sacramento Kings this past offseason. His experience and leadership on the court played a key role in leading Germany to their first-ever win.
