Genesis Invitational Relocates to Torrey Pines Amid Wildfire Concerns

The Genesis Invitational, a prestigious PGA Tour event, finds a new home at Torrey Pines Golf Course due to recent wildfires in the Los Angeles area. Initially slated for Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, the tournament will now be held from February 10-16 on both the North and South courses at Torrey Pines. The relocation underscores the tournament's commitment to supporting recovery efforts in the region. Hosted by Tiger Woods, the event benefits his TGR Foundation, which has long been a pivotal part of the community.

The decision to move the Genesis Invitational to Torrey Pines was made in response to the devastating wildfires that have impacted vast areas of Los Angeles. PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan emphasized the importance of highlighting resilience and providing support through the tournament's relocation.

"Highlighting the resilience of Los Angeles and the need for continued support for the ongoing recovery efforts is what our collective teams are working towards with the playing of The Genesis Invitational at Torrey Pines." – Jay Monahan

The North and South courses at Torrey Pines are well-equipped with the infrastructure necessary for hosting such a significant event. This venue change offers a unique opportunity as Tiger Woods, who serves as the host, has an illustrious history on these courses. Notably, Woods has claimed victory eight times on the South Course, including his memorable win at the 2008 U.S. Open.

Despite Woods' strong connection to Torrey Pines, it remains uncertain whether he will compete in this year's Genesis Invitational. Following microdecompression surgery on his lower back in September, Woods' participation is yet to be confirmed. Nonetheless, his presence is felt as he continues to lead efforts supporting those affected by the fires.

"While Riviera remains the home of The Genesis Invitational, we look forward to playing on another championship caliber golf course this year and using the tournament to support those affected by the fires in the Los Angeles area." – Tiger Woods

As plans are underway for the PGA Tour to return to Riviera Country Club in 2026, this temporary move highlights a broader mission. The Genesis Invitational aims not only to showcase world-class golf but also to aid in the recovery of the Los Angeles community through its charitable endeavors.
