Bryan Braman, a 38-year-old vagabond ex-NFL linebacker, is in the thick of treatment for lymphoma at Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center in Seattle. The talented athlete suited up for seven campaigns in the league between 2011 and 2017. Since his diagnosis in February, Evans has had four surgeries as he continues to battle the disease. His last NFL game was Super Bowl LII. While there, he experienced a crowning achievement, winning a Super Bowl victory with the Philadelphia Eagles after signing with the team to help them get through the playoffs.
Braman’s NFL career was full of eye-popping plays. His most iconic moment had to be the blocked punt in the divisional round of the playoffs that propelled the Eagles to their first-ever championship title. He has left an overall indelible mark on the field during his time with the Houston Texans. After that, he played a few more seasons with the Eagles.
While Braman continues to fight through this tough time, a GoFundMe page has been created to help pay for his medical bills. The organizers of this fundraising effort have been blown away by the generosity shown, with more than $52,000 raised to date. Thousands of fans, friends, and former teammates have enriched her legacy with their contributions. Of those, NFL defensive end J.J. Watt stepped up big with a donation of $10,000.
Sean Stellato, who has collaborated closely with Braman, shared that it’s Braman’s character and tenacity that truly stand out.
“At Stellato Sports, Bryan Braman has always stood for strength, resilience and leadership,” – Sean Stellato.
Stellato noted that braman’s characteristic combativeness has served him well as he has faced down his latest health crisis.
“Now, in the face of cancer, he embodies those qualities more than ever. If there is one person that I know that can beat cancer, it is Bryan Braman, who I have always considered family. He’s in the fight of his life,” – Sean Stellato.
The outpouring of love from the community and former teammates really shines a light on the deep connections forged throughout Braman’s football journey. To those that know him, he is family, and many have stepped up to support him in this difficult time. The overwhelming support is a testament to the love an entire community has for one of their own athletes. It also exposes a culture of brotherhood that extends well beyond the gridiron.
