A fire alarm briefly interrupted the basketball game between the Golden State Warriors and the Detroit Pistons at Chase Center. The incident occurred shortly after the conclusion of the first quarter, causing a delay of approximately five minutes before the commencement of the second quarter. The alarm, which was not a drill, ultimately turned out to be false.
The disruption unfolded as the alarm blared several times, prompting hundreds of spectators to move in the stands and main concourse. In response to the alarm, an announcement from the main scoreboard instructed attendees:
"Attention: There has been a fire alarm reported in the building. Proceed to the nearest exit and leave the building. Do not use elevators."
The announcement briefly heightened concerns before a subsequent message reassured all that it was a false alarm. During the confusion, players from both teams remained near their benches, awaiting further instructions.
Security personnel at Chase Center noted that nothing similar had occurred previously during a game at this five-year-old arena. However, they did recall a similar incident during a concert held at the venue. Despite the interruption, order was quickly restored, and the game resumed without further incident.
The Golden State Warriors, hosting the Detroit Pistons, ensured a smooth transition back into play as both teams prepared for the second quarter after the alarm issue was resolved. The prompt resolution allowed fans and players alike to refocus on the remainder of the game.
