Everton Women Triumph Over Crystal Palace with Convincing Win

Everton Women would go on to secure a dominant 3-0 win against Crystal Palace Women, at Walton Hall Park, celebrating the first possible unrestricted crowd. In last week’s WSL season opener, the home side displayed a perfect example of it. Under manager Brian Sorensen and their own logo, they have made every move to set their plan to work. Everton Women picked up a big league win on the road, moving them to the seventh spot in the league table. They’ve only just moved ahead of Tottenham and with just five games remaining in the season.

The first goal of the match was scored right before half, from Justine Vanhaevermaet. Sara Holmgaard with the perfectly placed corner. Vanhaevermaet rose above the back line and directed a header over the keeper to find the back of the net, opening the scoring and setting the stage for an entertaining contest.

Into the second half, Everton Women picked up right where they left off, extending their lead. Sara Holmgaard was the architect of Denmark’s first goal, and it only took four minutes. Soon she doubled the lead, sealing the victory with an emphatic second half finish. Her contribution highlighted that it was the team’s commitment to collective play and tactical discipline that set this game apart.

As the match drew to a close, Everton Women never let up and added their third goal to clinch the win in added time. Kelly Gago took down her chance well, scoring what we thought was the winner in the 95th minute. This strike put the win beyond doubt for Everton Women. It was a testament to their willingness to continue to apply pressure until the last possible moment.

For at least two-thirds of the second half, Everton Women put on an impressive display, comfortably sliding towards a historic victory with poise and power. Their effective game plan, staffed by meticulously-prepared hounds of war, was designed to keep Crystal Palace Women from ever gaining a foothold on this match.
