The competition for the 2026 FIFA World Cup just got a lot more interesting!
European play-offs
Several European teams have already secured their places, while others still await their destiny in next weeks’ play-off matches. Germany, France, Portugal, the Netherlands and most recently, England all won their tickets to the big dance. This terrific achievement will be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Meanwhile, teams such as Slovakia, Ukraine, the Republic of Ireland and Poland are preparing for important play-offs. This is indicative of a rapidly changing environment in European football.
With the win, Germany has guaranteed its place in the next World Cup, adding to another chapter of Germany’s rich football tradition. The team’s high level of play in the qualifying rounds made it all but inescapable that it would dance its way into the field with the world’s best. France, a second powerhouse to have confirmed its participation, will further see the continued legacy of Les Bleus as a force on the global stage.

In Group A, Slovakia took their place in the second-place play-off. They’re really doing themselves well by positioning so strongly as a potential dark horse moving into the knockout stage.
