The 2025 EuroBasket event will have many of basketball’s most iconic talent on display. It all starts on Luka Doncic’s 24th birthday! The event promises to highlight the talents of both established stars and emerging talents from the NBA, including Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and several younger players making their mark on the international stage.
Luka Doncic, now 24, continues to impress following his trade to the Los Angeles Lakers, where he maintained a steady impact on the court. His impact on EuroBasket will be tremendous as he guides Slovenia to their first title. Nikola Jokic comes into the tournament with the best reputation. He has the same high RAPTOR score during the 2024-25 regular season as Doncic. His well-rounded game and high basketball IQ will be key for Serbia as they look to upset and take gold.
Franz Wagner, 24, has long been a mainstay of the RAPTOR-based lists. Currently playing for the Orlando Magic, he should be a key figure for a Germany team with high aspirations. Like him, 22-year-old Santi Aldama of Spain helped to usher in this new generation of players. Aldama’s leadership will be crucial for Spain as they go through a gauntlet of quality teams.
Nikola Jovic, too, has emerged as a promising player for Serbia on any stage. At only 22, Jovic is more than ready to make his case for regular playing time. Having returned fresh from a very fruitful summer with his national team, he has the ability to steer Serbia back to prominence in European basketball. His performance will be critical to living up to the expectations of his predecessor.
Giannis Antetokounmpo is only 31, so he still should be a force. He’s placed no worse than fourth in NBA MVP voting for seven straight years. Therefore, his experience and really unique skills that he developed with the Milwaukee Bucks are going to be extremely valuable for Greece. Antetokounmpo’s unique ability to dominate games on both ends of the floor is what makes him one of the most intriguing players to watch during this tournament.
Kristaps Porzingis, now 25, is another promising name who turned heads a few summers back while representing Latvia at FIBA EuroBasket 2017. He averaged 23.6 points, 6.0 rebounds last year. Now, he wants to do it all over again as he looks to guide Latvia for a good run in EuroBasket.
Second-year big man Alperen Şengün looks plenty prepared to lead a loaded Serbian team. In fact, they are the overwhelming favorites to win the entire tournament! While he still needs to work on his shooting form, everything else in his game has amazed fans and pundits throughout the league. His skill and creativity might be key in deciding Serbia’s fortunes in the tournament.
