Enzo Le Fee, a 25-year-old French footballer, has embarked on a promising journey with Sunderland, aiming for promotion to the Premier League. Le Fee joined Roma from Rennes for a reported fee of €23 million, showcasing his burgeoning talent on a grand stage. Despite his successful stint in Italy, he now finds himself at Sunderland, where expectations are high.
The midfielder's path to Sunderland is marked by notable experiences and partnerships. He represented France's U21s alongside distinguished players such as William Saliba, Eduardo Camavinga, and Loic Bade. Raised in Lorient, Le Fee was on the books of his hometown club from the tender age of eight.
Le Fee's transition to Italian football saw him under the tutelage of Daniele De Rossi, who handed him a full Serie A debut in central midfield against Cagliari. In his debut match, he played for 61 minutes before being substituted. He later made another appearance, coming on for the last half-hour in a 2-1 defeat to Empoli.
At Sunderland, Le Fee has already made an impact since his debut against Burnley on January 17. He has accumulated six appearances, taking 11 shots and scoring one goal. Additionally, he has created eight chances and registered an assist, playing a total of 539 minutes in the Championship.
The move to Sunderland includes a strategic loan with an option-to-buy clause that becomes obligatory if the team secures promotion to the Premier League. His reunion with former manager Regis Le Bris at Sunderland has been fruitful. Le Bris commented on Le Fee's adaptability and potential:
"This was the easiest spot to start and I think now after five or six games, he is starting to find the references and the connections with his team-mates," said Regis Le Bris.
Le Fee's versatility on the pitch is evident as he takes on various roles. He has played in defensive midfield under a Croatian manager at Southampton, displaying his flexibility and tactical awareness. Le Bris elaborated on his evolving role:
"So we can say at the end that maybe it could be his position but at the same time, I know and we know that he could very important in the midfield as well."
"He can probably be a little bit more involved in the build-up play and we'll look at it a little bit later when we have those [other] players available," added Le Bris.
Le Fee's ambitions resonate with his recent performances, particularly highlighting his beautiful goal in English football. Known for his ability to curl and dip the ball into the net's bottom right corner, his skills have not gone unnoticed.
As Sunderland eyes promotion, Le Fee shares his determination:
"Every player wants to play in such a big game," expressed Enzo Le Fee.
"If we want to be on the top, we have to prepare for this game. We have to go to Leeds for a win. We will prepare for the win."

"Yesterday he said goodbye to me and I was sorry to let him go, to be honest," said Claudio Ranieri.
