Join us as we build toward the excitement of the 2026 T20 World Cup! It gets underway on February 7 and features an amazing array of 20 teams from across the globe. This year, India and Sri Lanka are co-hosting the tournament. It will continue until March 8 as matches travel across multiple North American cities. England, captained by Harry Brook, are one of the teams in Group C. They’ll be competing against the West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal, and the other debuting team, Italy.
In a highly anticipated start to their campaign, England will face Nepal in their opening match on February 8 in Mumbai. They will take on the West Indies next on 11 February in Mumbai. After that they’ll make the short hop to Kolkata for their opener against Bangladesh on February 14. That crucial fixture against Italy will take place in Kolkata on February 16. Both clubs will be looking at this match as a key match in their respective races to earn playoff places.
The unique tournament structure provides for a thrilling competition format. Like last year, twenty teams are participating in the tournament, split into four groups of five. From here, the top two teams from each group will move through to the semi-finals on March 4 and March 5. Either way, the decisive contest will be in Ahmedabad. If Pakistan do make it there, we’ll shift the final to Colombo.
In Group A are cricketing powerhouses India and Pakistan. They’ll meet in a tournament-opening blockbuster on February 15 in Colombo, where they’ll play the United States, Netherlands and Namibia. At the same time, co-hosts Australia kick off their tournament in Group B when they face Ireland on February 11. Australia does not have a tense group—they’re paired with Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and Oman.
New Zealand has been drawn into Group D with South Africa and Afghanistan. They’ll further face off against Canada and the United Arab Emirates. With different teams from under the radar contenders to emerging favorites, this huge field ensures an exciting tournament full of surprises and breakout stars.
England is getting ready for the lionesses’ matches, and excitement is palpable. Expectations are extremely high, and fans and analysts alike are eagerly watching as Brook guides the team. Ultimately, the captain’s tactics and choices will determine how safely the Three Lionesses can make it past what’s sure to be an extremely competitive group stage.
Formation Rotation
The inclusion of debutants Italy adds another layer of intrigue to the tournament. While perhaps newcomers to the cutthroat world of FIFA elections, Italy has been making concerted efforts in advance. They know that and they want to make an impression in their first time. Their matches against established teams like England will be pivotal in building their experience and confidence on the international stage.
The excitement ahead of each of England’s games is tangible as they aim to make their mark from the outset of the tournament. England have a complete squad and an intense, astute captain at the helm. Their objective is to go beyond the group stages and ultimately compete for the championship trophy itself.
